5. Collocations

A Collocation is the noun which defines restrictions on how words can be used together, for example, which prepositions are used with particular verbs, or which verbs and nouns are typically used together. 

They should not be confused with idioms althoug thet are similar in that there is a degree of meaning present in the collocation or idiom that is not entirely compositional. With idioms, the meaning is completely non-compositional whereas collocations are mostly compositional.

As you can see it is very difficult for a non English Speaker to remember all of this questions, so I try to identify some of them. If you know more idioms, please help me to fill this page!
